Meet the team
Our team comprises of Karuna Priya, a former Buddhist monk with extensive training in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the UK, and Nitima Priya, a Holistic Counsellor born in the foothills of the Himalayas, currently based in the UK and offering her counselling services internationally. Together, we lead the way in holistic healing with a Buddhist approach that encompasses the mind, body and spirit.
NITIMA PRIYA
Founder
Nitima is an integrative counsellor, life coach and mindfulness teacher.
She studied Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy, NLP & Counselling Skills at the Contemporary College of Therapeutic Studies (CCTS ) and is a member of the Counsellors Together UK (CTUK).
As the Co-founder at Akanista, she spreads positive vibes through wellbeing workshops at prestigious places, including Imperial College London, Royal College of Art, and leading corporate companies such as Soho House, Coats, BAT, Cushman & Wakefield Save the Children to name a few. She facilitates residential and non residential retreats in the UK and in Europe.
With over 15 years of dedicated practice in Mindfulness, Nitima brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her clients. Her qualifications as a Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist, Holistic Counsellor, and EFT and NLP Practitioner enable her to provide a comprehensive and integrated approach to well-being and personal growth.
Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including lawyers, CEOs, and business owners. Her clientele often includes those facing anxiety, trauma, and behavioral issues. She is committed to working with clients who are serious about their well-being and personal development.
Most of the issues that adults experience in the present are rooted in the past. Through exploration, you will come to understand your conditioning, beliefs, and the reasons behind your thought patterns, behaviors, actions, and decisions. In this process, she will help you adopt a non-judgmental approach, teaching you to hold these moments with compassion and progress through the healing process using various methods.
In Nitima’s practice, she emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating Mindfulness with mind and body work, including psychosomatic therapy. Most of her work involves bringing the unconscious to conscious awareness, initiating the process of healing and change for your growth. Her goal is to equip clients with the tools and techniques necessary for lasting change and resourcefulness in managing their well-being.

How we can make a difference
Our coaching sessions are suitable for everyone, particularly those struggling with stress and anxiety in today’s fast-paced and often dysfunctional societies. We work with clients from all backgrounds, including trauma survivors who require specialised, culture-sensitive care. Additionally, our sessions can help those looking to improve their lives, develop personal growth, nurture positive relationships with themselves, expand their horizons, find peace and contentment, and learn to be less hard on themselves. We offer tailored sessions that can last anywhere from 6 to 12 sessions, with options to extend if required to meet each individual’s needs.
One of our core values is to demystify meditation and spirituality. While these practices have become increasingly popular in mainstream culture, they are often misunderstood and stripped of their cultural and ethical elements, which can render them less effective. We have a deep respect for the origins and intentions of mindfulness and meditation practices, and we believe that they should be approached with care and personal guidance. Our goal is to help our clients understand the context of these practices and how they can use them to empower themselves and gain healing properties.
