Join us for a peaceful, monthly meditation gathering.

 

It’s a warm, welcoming space to deepen your practice with the Akanista team. Connect with others who share your journey. Each month, you’ll enjoy a gentle relaxation to ground yourself, a warm welcome with our chosen theme, a deep meditation to take you further, and a dharma talk for new insights—plus optional space to share if you’d like.

 

We meet on the last Saturday of each month, 9:30–11 am UK time, currently via private Zoom Meeting. Each session is unique and focuses on a specific theme.

Awakening the Spirit: A Look at Religion and Spirituality

What does religion mean to you? What defines being religious versus being spiritual? Can you imagine a world without religion? Consider the contrast between a priest and a commoner. Does religion impose limitations?

How does gender, including LGBT+ identities, intersect with faith? What role does spirituality play in our understanding of the afterlife? Is there a right or wrong way to approach these questions? Perhaps the answers lie in personal interpretation.

Looking at one’s compassionate self

Self-compassion is treating yourself with kindness, just like you would a friend. It involves acknowledging your feelings without judgment and accepting your imperfections.

By embracing your compassionate self, you accept your humanity and forgive your mistakes. This approach fosters resilience, promotes emotional well-being, and encourages personal growth during tough times.

How to have a healthy relationship with yourself

To have a healthy relationship with yourself, practice self-acceptance and treat yourself with kindness. Set aside time for self-reflection to understand your thoughts and feelings.

Prioritize self-care by engaging in activities that nourish your body and mind. Challenge negative self-talk by replacing it with positive affirmations. Remember to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and embrace your uniqueness.

Our team comprises of Karuna Priya, a former Buddhist monk with extensive training in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the UK, and Nitima Priya, a Holistic Counsellor born in the foothills of the Himalayas, currently based in the UK and offering her counselling services internationally. Together, we lead the way in holistic healing with a Buddhist approach that encompasses the mind, body and spirit.

Our authentic approach, grounded in Eastern traditions and extensive personal experience, allows us to guide you on a healing journey that encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. With a focus on demystifying meditation and spirituality and providing personalised guidance, our team is dedicated to empowering you to live your best life.
